Festive Pomegranate Cherry Spritzer

Sometimes you need a fancy drink to put you in a festive mood. This Pom-Cherry Spritzer is just the thing! @cookinRD | sarahaasrdn.com

When I was little, I used to marvel at the fancy drinks my parents would enjoy during the holidays. Big punch bowls full of mystical liquid were at every party. Most of them were deemed “for the adults only.” Bummer! What I would’ve given for a big punch bowl full of something deemed “for the kids only!” And I think I would’ve really loved this Pom-Cherry Spritzer!

A Beverage for Everyone!

You know what I like? Beverages that EVERYONE can enjoy! Because as I have found out from my little sous chef is that kids are people too. What, you didn’t know this? 😉 Well, now you do. And they’ll remind you every chance they get! And that’s ok. They deserve a fun, festive beverage too. And they’ll feel super special drinking the same thing as YOU!

How to Make a Beverage For Everyone

Making a drink that everyone can enjoy is simple. Start with a great, flavorful base, like those found in this super yummy spritzer. Experiment with flavor combinations and try adding sliced fruit because who doesn’t love pretty pieces of fruit floating around in their glass? Then top it with either sparkling water, club soda or even just tame with with some plain water and a bunch of ice. If the adults need a little bit of “zing,” add a splash of vodka, tequila, gin or even champagne!

How to Serve a Beverage for Everyone

Have two types of cups, one for adults and one for kids. Make them equally cool, and if possible, make the kids cup cooler than the adult cups. Why two types of cups? So that the little ones don’t “accidentally” end up with an adult beverage. (You’re welcome for that inside tip!) Make the base in a pretty pitcher or bowl and have a ladle to dispense it. Have extra bowls of sliced fruits, herbs, whatever you’ve put in the beverage, so that people can add it to their cups. Keep the non-alcoholic “toppers” near the kids section and keep the alcohol “toppers” a little higher, out of the reach of the little ones. Then let everyone help themselves, with assistance as needed, of course.
